The LED light therapy fad is in full swing. You’ve likely seen it on Instagram, or another medium, speaking to the efficacy of what’s known as an “LED facial”. Further down the rabbit hole you find Color Light Therapy, and the virtues of different wavelengths and their uses. Easy to dismiss as another flash in the pan, right? Surprisingly, no. It actually does work! There’s been plenty of clinical trials to back it up at this stage, and yes, you can in fact get younger, smoother skin via LED.
So, how does this whole process work, and is it right for me? Let’s start by addressing the first question. LED Light Therapy works on the principal that LED’s (Light Emitting Diodes) are able to achieve a deeper penetration into the skin, and therefore impart a change other forms of light cannot. Those changes, specifically, are increased cellular proliferation, migration and adhesion. Stimulating specific cell types via different wavelengths found within the skin, enables the regenerative process to take place, thereby giving you a better complexion.
That just leaves the question of, “Is this treatment right for me?” Chances are yes, it is right for you. If you would like to reduce the appearance of fine lines on the face, minimize acne scarring, fight acne causing bacteria, or produce more collagen, then definitely yes, you should give it a try. While the mask may look a bit intimidating, there’s no pain or downtime involved, whatsoever. So, jump on board. This fad is here to stay.
